Small Claims Court: Bigger Limits, More Options
Small Claims Court: Bigger Limits, More Options

A lot of people don’t realize this, but Small Claims Court in Ontario now allows claims of up to $50,000 (it used to be $35,000).

That’s a big change in and it matters.

Small Claims Court is designed to be faster, more accessible, and less intimidating than higher courts. It can be an option for things like unpaid money, contract disputes, or property damage, without the time and cost that often come with larger court processes.

Every situation is different. The key takeaway here is simply awareness: if you thought your issue was “too big” for Small Claims Court, it might not be anymore.

This is general information, not legal advice but knowing your options is always the first step.
